Hello everyone,
  |
| My small family of four! |
I am excited to be starting my second semester at Hardin-Simmons University and learning about psychology with y'all. My name is Aylin Neri. Many people are stumped when attempting to say my name! My first name is pronounced like "I-lean". There is not much to say about myself. I am from a small town named Fredericksburg, Texas. I come from a small family of four. I have a little sister, and she is 11 years old. My major is Nursing and I am aiming to specialize in becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  I am very shy and quiet at first, but I warm up for those who get to know me personally.
I am a part of the track team at HSU. While I was in High School, I was on the track team and I ran sprints and relay events. If it wasn't for the track coach recruiting me, I would've never been able to learn about how great this school is! Hardin-Simmons has led me to grow spiritually and academically, in just a few short months. I can feel the growth of a deeper relationship between God and me. When I was younger I attended church, went to Sunday School and participated in ACTS Retreats, but my passion for understanding God was never completely fulfilled. Bible studies, chapel, and many other activities have led to a stronger bond with God.

I would like to compare myself to a lion or something courageous and confident, but I can only compare myself to a
butterfly. The comparison between the
butterfly and I is special to me because, like the
butterfly, I have transformed into a new/better version of myself. I believe I began to find myself in High School. It all started when my best friend encouraged me to join the dance team my sophomore year. This was a tremendous step for me because I was a very shy girl, and I could not see myself dancing in front of a whole crowd at football or basketball games. It was one of my worst fears. When it was time to perform for the very first time, my heart was pounding and my legs were shaking while I waited for the music to start. It was possibly the most terrifying moment of my life, to this day. I eventually ended up getting over the fear of performing in front of crowds, and along the way, I developed the confidence to believe in myself and that I could do things if I set my mind to them. I compare myself to a
butterfly because before a larva is transformed, it must undergo the silence of a cocoon and emerge as a better version of itself. This year, one of my resolutions is to make advances in my emergence from my personal cocoon.

I loved your comparison of you and a butterfly. This really stood out to me, how meaningful the process of life a butterfly undergoes is, and how this can relate to your own individual journey to believing in yourself. I believe, in many ways, we all start out like caterpillars stuck in our cocoon. I would also like to say congratulations on your spot on the HSU track team, and I am very happy for the path you have found with God. This was a really great layout for your first blog in this class. I hope we this is a fun year and that we can grow closer throughout this semester. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Aylin, you did a wonderful job overall. It was interesting to read another person's point of view of how they arrived to Hardin-Simmons. I can connect with you on not knowing a thing about Hardin-Simmons before my football coach came to recruit me, and I'm so grateful now that he did. I see you want to be Pediatric Nurse Practitioner which is an awesome field to go into. My girlfriend is trying to go into the exact same field, so i get to learn more about it everyday. You're comparison of you and a butterfly was fantastic. Trust the process. Good luck in your track season!
ReplyDeleteHey, Aylin! I love the comparisons you made of yourself to an animal. I loved reading your blog and post and I can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteHi Aylin!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog. I can definitely relate to you on the aspect of being very shy and quiet at first, but then warming up to people who take the time to get to know you because I too am just like this. I also come from a small family of four so I can relate to you on that as well. I am very excited to read some of your next blog posts and to hopefully get to know you better over the semester!
Hello Aylin! (beautiful name by the way). I absolutely love how your blog is set up, plus all of the great pictures. Fredricksburg is so beautiful, I always go there with my family for some girl trips. Its just so calm and relaxing there! I think its so cool how you danced in highschool, that was something I had always wanted to do and I never had the guts to do it. I'm looking forward to reading your interesting blogs!
ReplyDeleteHey Krystina! I am happy to know that you have visited Fredericksburg! Many don't know where it is located, so it is good to know someone that knows the place that I call home. I also LOVE your blog and the way it is set up! It is so girly and pink. Two of my favorite things! I'm looking forward to reading your blogs!
